Alpha Transporter is currently shuttling cargo between Pemba and Mocimboa Da Praia. Road transport between Pemba and Palma/Afungi has limitations with bridges capacity of 28 T gross. Any heavy cargo has to be transported by sea to Mocimboa Da Praia and then trucked to Palma/Afungi.
This service is offered through the ALS Alliance.
More units, including landing crafts, tugs and barges, can be available from different ports in the East & South Africa region (Mombasa, Dar Es Salaam, Nacala, Maputo, Durban).
