ALSL recently successfully completed the refloat of MT Theresa Arctic, a crude palm oil tanker that went aground on coral, off the coast of Kilifi in Kenya. Our tugs, work boats and qualified personnel worked hand in hand with Smit International and Kenya Port Authority during the course of the three-week operation.
Our vessels involved in the actual operation were Alpha Granada and Alpha Pina. Other vessels: Ham 1400, Valentine II and Alpha Kirawira were used as support vessels, ferrying personnel and required material for the salvage. The vessel was successfully removed from the reef without any damage on the hull and no reported incident on personnel involved. It was later escorted to safe anchorage at the port of Mombasa.
ALSL has a 24/7 emergency response team with tug boats on standby at the port of Mombasa and is able to respond to any vessel emergencies across the East African coast.
